Not completely necessary to have. The kits already come with a prep pad. Compared to other prep pads, this is the least smelly and one of the softest. This would be ideal for a person that does nail care more than once a month.

This is really nice as an extra, but I do not think it is necessary. Each nail pack already comes with a prep pad. The nice things about this are the softness and the lack of smell.
